I found Fevziu’s biography absolutely fascinating both as a overview history of post-war Albania and as a portrait of Hoxha himself. No doubt Albania, like any other country, wears vestiges of its past. A History, by Philipp Ther, tr. Stalin’s purges hit the military and Hoxha purges the educated. The blendi fevziu enver hoxha may be obvious for Albanian readers who feel these legacies and remember the totalitarian past; it is, however, not obvious for those who have never been to Albania, and especially for those for whom this book represents their first encounter blendi fevziu enver hoxha the country.
